STS Surface Hardening

What is STS?

Stainless steel components are widely used due to their corrosion resistance across various environments. However, stainless steels generally have low surface hardness and wear resistance, making them susceptible to premature wear and limiting their use in demanding applications. STS treatment is a specialized surface hardening solution designed to improve the wear resistance and anti-galling properties of stainless steel, without compromising its corrosion resistance.

Key Advantages of STS?

Diffusion-Based Layer with No Peeling : Forms a pure diffusion zone beneath the surface—not a coating—eliminating the risk of delamination.

Dimensional Stability : No dimensional changes occur when applied to components that have been stress-relieved.

Adjustable Surface Hardness : Surface hardness can be precisely controlled within the range of 500–1200 Hv.

Multifunctional Surface Enhancement : Improves wear resistance and mechanical strength while maintaining surface roughness, scratch resistance, and corrosion resistance.
